A road in the centre of Axbridge is set to be closed for three weeks from Monday (October 12).

Old Church Road, at the Meadow Street end, is scheduled to be shut to traffic for 21 days, 24 hours a day.

The closure is required for Mahoney Contracts to carry out urgent roof works on Grade II-listed buildings in the area.

Other roadworks scheduled to take place in the Cheddar area this week include:

The closure of The Bays, in Cheddar, for Bristol Water to repair a leak, is set to be lifted on Monday.

Temporary traffic lights are set to be used in Orchard Road, Axbridge, from Friday (October 16) to October 27, to BT to install two poly ducts and repair a street cabinet.

On Monday, Somerset Highways are due to be undertaking jetting works in Tweentown/Axbridge Road, in Cheddar.

On Wednesday (October 14), Western Power Distribution is scheduled to be doing tree-trimming in Chestnut Avenue, Axbridge, with similar work planned on Friday in Lower North Street, Cheddar.

Finally, Gigaclear's work to install a duct and fibre optic cable in Bailiffs Close, Axbridge, is set to be completed on Monday.
