The continued row over cars using Cheddar Gorge as a race track is set to come to national television with the latest episode of BBC's Countryfile.

The ever-popular Sunday night programme will on January 21 show an episode about farming life in The Mendips.

As part of the programme presenter Ellie Harrison will, in the words of the programmers : " Scale Cheddar Gorge and discover the damage cars are wreaking on narrow, winding roads. "

The show will also investigate if the government's new green subsidy scheme can really deliver for farmers and the environment.

Countryfile is on BBC1 at 18:00 on Sunday January 17.
