Movie director Ridley Scott is believed to have visited Cheddar today (October 7) to scout for possible locations to shoot a new film.

Cheddar Nub News has been told that earlier today Scott's helicopter landed at Winchester Farm before he spent half an hour in the area looking at locations for a new film.

The English film director and producer has a raft of famous movies under his belt, including Alien, Gladiator, The Martian, Blade Runner, and Thelma and Louise.

It is not known what production he was in Cheddar for today, and according to the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) he is working on a number of projects.

A Western film called Empire of the Summer Moon is currently in pre-production, while also announced are Gladiator 2 and an untitled Alien prequel.

It could also be War Party, an adventure movie with the focus on Navy SEALS, Kitbag about Napoleon Bonaparte, or David - a retelling of the biblical story of David and Goliath.

Cheddar has been used as a filming location before, with the most recent being the Netflix children's series The Last Bus, which was filmed last October.
