Sedgemoor District Council's Grants Panel have received two "thank yous" for Covid grants awarded earlier in the year.

One was from the Isle of Wedmore Good Neighbour Scheme, that has received £1,824.

Members used a small amount of this money to train 18 Good Neighbour Scheme volunteers in refresher three-hour first aid training.

The local training provider offered to provide the training for free but members of the scheme felt they should be compensated - so a special reduced fee was agreed.

The other was from the Nelson Trust who were awarded £2,500, which was used as a contribution towards keyworker costs due the increased demand on their services throughout the pandemic.

The trust said: "Sedgemoor District Council funding has enabled us to continue to seamlessly support vulnerable women and their families within the Sedgemoor community.

"Our keyworkers have been facilitating a full complement of online groups and one-to-one keyworker sessions both in the centre and on an outreach basis.

"This continued support allows women to feel supported to address their ongoing emotional and practical needs."

This article previously stated that the Isle of Wedmore Good Neighbour Scheme used all of its grant money for the training - this information, that was provided to us by Sedgemoor District Council, was incorrect and we apologise for the error.
