On Thursday 6th February Year 13 Digital Media pupils met with Ollie Hulme, a journalist with over 20 years experience in local and specialist media.

Ollie was in to talk to pupils about their latest unit, Journalism and the News Industry, as part of their Level 3 Digital Media course. This topic aims for participants to understand how news is owned and created and will equip learners with better skills in researching, analysis and writing for topical subjects. This feeds into their other work as they look at ways of presenting subjects, researching, and understanding bias.

The class discussed their latest assignments along with the ways news has changed through Ollie's career. There were opportunities to ask questions about how to improve their research and the different ways the can approach writing a story.

The was an invaluable opportunity which the students thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. We look forward to welcoming Ollie back to Kings in the future.
