Planning application submitted to build 20 houses on field in Cheddar

Proposals have been submitted to build 20 houses on a field in Cheddar, where there is currently permission for nine homes to be constructed.

Outline planning permission, with some matters reserved, for the building of 20 dwellings on land at Steart Bushes, Wedmore Road, Cheddar, has been applied for by Highridge Construction Ltd.

Permission was granted for nine homes on the site in January this year, but this new application is for 20 three-bedroom semi-detached homes arranged in pairs.

The new scheme is a revision of a previous application for 21 homes that was refused in March last year due to a lack of affordable housing, and this new plan includes a report that makes a case for affordable housing not being needed at the site.

The site has a history of applications for housing being submitted, with plans being refused for 18 homes in 2011, 28 homes in 2013 and 24 homes in 2016.

Other planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been submitted this week include:

Works to trees in a Conservation Area T1 Acer Negundo - crown reduce 2m and selectively prune inner growth at Morecombe House, St Mary's Street, Axbridge, are wanted by Ms Hill.

Erection of a stable building at Southwick House, Southwick Road, Mark, has been applied for by Mr Larkin.

Conversion of existing garage to living accommodation and erection of a detached garage is wanted at Periwinkle Cottage, Mill Lane, Stone Allerton.

Erection of two storey side extension, on site of existing garage (to be demolished) at Norwood, Pilcorn Street, Wedmore, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs Harris.

Planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been decided this week include:

Erection of a horse walker at Chapel House, Bristol Road, Biddisham, by Mrs Hall has been approved.

Erection of permanent agricultural worker's dwelling at Hayberry Farm, Upper Draycott Road, Cheddar, by Mr Urch has been approved.

Erection of a two storey extension to the east elevation at Stores Cottage, Old Coach Road, Cross, by Mr and Mrs Muntz has been approved.

Erection of two storey extension to rear (north) elevation at Old Oak Barn, Perry Road, Mark, by Mr Popham has been refused.

Application to determine if prior approval is required for a proposed single storey extension extending 6m from the rear (west) elevation at Peacocks Roost, Little Moor Road, Mark, by Mr House has been approved.

Application for Non-Material Amendment to Planning Permission 33/20/00010 (erection of two single storey extensions and extension of existing flat roof extension to the rear elevation) to amend the approved plans to allow for a reduction to ground floor rear elevation depth, changes to the roof from pitched to flat roof and the addition of Velux rooflights and all associated works at Melody Farm, The Causeway, Mark, by Mr Kehoe has been approved.

Removal of Condition 3 of Planning Permission 50/00/00079 (erection of agricultural worker's dwelling with integral double garage) to remove agricultural occupancy condition at Teal Farm, Sand, by Mr Ham has been withdrawn.

Erection of detached self-build dwelling with amenity space and off-street parking at land to the south east of Springwood, Rughill, Cocklake, by Mr Roper has been approved.

Erection of a single storey extension to the west elevation of dwelling and erection of a single storey extension to west elevation of existing garage at Spinney Brook, 8 Springfield Drive, Wedmore, by Mr Williams has been approved.

Dwelling house occupied in breach of occupancy restriction at Lower Stoke Farm, Barrow Wood Lane, Rodney Stoke, by Mr Richard Counsell has been ruled as the development is lawful.

Application for a non-material amendment to permission 2019/1593/FUL for the altered roof configuration, revised internal layout at Henley View, Swans Lane, Draycott, by Mr B Tinton has been refused.
