Plans have been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council for a detached self-build bungalow in Crickham.

The outline planning application with all matters reserved, for the creation of a detached self-build bungalow on land at Crickham Lane, Crickham, has been submitted by Messrs Crowcombe.

The proposal site is positioned to the west of Crickham Lane just before a "crossroads" where the lane goes straight on and changes into a green lane.

In the northern corner are the stone walls of an old store shed, and it is proposed to demolish three walls but leave the north wall on the boundary.

The site has had a previous application refused in 1989, but in September 2020 a request was made for pre-application advice, and the conclusion of which was that the site was suitable for a custom build/self-build dwelling.

It is suggested that the new dwelling would be a two-bedroom bungalow with external walls of rendered blockwork and roofed in brown double Roman tiles to match the surrounding properties.

A new vehicular access and turning bay could be constructed at the southern end of the site where it is wider.

The application said: "Because of the surrounding development it would now be classed as in-fill and would conform to the Sedgemoor Local Plan.

"The proposed dwelling will provide a much-needed chance for someone from the parish of Wedmore to build their own property and stay in the locality."

No other planning applications have been submitted in the Cheddar area this week.
