The road through Cheddar Gorge is closed this evening (June 11) following a serious crash.

The incident is believed to have happened near to Arch Rock and the B3135 Cliff Road is closed to all traffic from the bottom of the Gorge to the junction with the B3371 at the top.

A number of emergency service vehicles have been attending the scene, since it was reported just after 5.30pm, including police, the ambulance service, the fire service and the air ambulance.

The closure is causing traffic delays at either end of the Gorge, and motorists are being advised to find an alternative route.
