While many if us took up the Couch to 5k during lockdown, one pupil at Fairlands Middle School in Cheddar took things one step further.

Student Sam tackled a half marathon - 13.1 miles - to raise money for his gymnastics club.

This feat included a 1,800ft hill climb, and is not the only exceptional achievement from this young athlete who has won many medals and become a national champion at tumbling.

A spokesperson for the school said: "We are incredibly impressed by this achievement, and know that the funds raised will go a long way to supporting his club to continue to help young people in the future.

"We look forward to seeing Sam's successes continue long into the future."
