Plans to build a new shop at Pophams Saddlery in Mark have been given the go-ahead by Sedgemoor District Council.

The planning application for the demolition of the existing shop and the building of a new shop building and an access track at Pophams Saddlery, Harp Road, Mark, had been submitted on behalf of Mrs E Seabourne.

The existing shop is housed in a Nissen hut structure which is constructed from a concrete sheet material similar to the Asbestos sheets used in old domestic garage structures.

Currently the employees need to use the toilet situated in the owner's home adjacent to the shop, so the business proposed that a structure similar to the main barn storage area which was subject of a planning application in 2009, be constructed alongside that building.

Now approval has been granted, the existing shop premises will be decommissioned and, subject to necessity, demolished.
