A mum from Axbridge has issued a warning about a stretch of the M5 motorway after her family were lucky to walk away from a crash on Sunday (December 15).
Sam Fletcher, her husband Dave and their two sons were involved in a serious car accident on the M5, northbound between junctions 20 and 19, at 9.30am on Sunday due to a waterlogged carriageway.
Their car aquaplaned, hit the central reservation, spun right around and ended up in the middle of two lanes of the motorway.
Sam said: "We are all fine, a little emotionally and physically bruised but we are all OK.
"I want to warn people about this stretch of road. There have been so many accidents there - four last week, one the night before and two after us, and I presume many more.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Avon and Somerset Police and South Western Ambulance Service for helping us and being so amazing with both our boys.
"Special thanks to Avon Fire and Rescue Service, the boys love their knitted teddies the firefighter gave them, and thank you reassurance you gave us.
"I would like to thank two ladies, named Tamzin and Amy who were heading from Exeter to Cheltenham, that stopped traffic, stayed with us the whole time, talking to the boys and giving them cuddles.
"Unfortunately, I don't know much else about them so can't thank them in person but they were amazing.
"Also, Karen from St John Ambulance who stopped for us and made all the phone calls to the emergency services. You were all our angels."
