A call has been made for CCTV in Axbridge Square by the town's chamber of commerce, following recent spates of anti-social behaviour.

In an open letter from chairman Louise Jane Cooling, treasurer Mike Sartain, membership secretary Pat Filer and secretary Harry Mottram, Axbridge Chamber of Commerce has also said a break-in at the tea rooms has highlighted the need for CCTV.

The letter said: "The town's main attraction needs to be protected as do the homes and businesses that front on to the Square.

"From anti-social drivers parking in the road and blocking the path of other motorists including the bus service to suspected criminal activity in the ancient and historic public space we feel as the chamber of commerce security must be improved."
