The road through Cheddar Gorge is scheduled to reopen this week following works to remove trees affected by ash dieback disease.

The B3135 and Cliff Road have been shut since last month after Somerset Wildlife Trust announced it was having to remove a number of dangerous trees that had ash dieback.

However, the works have taken less time than expected, and the road is now scheduled to be reopened on Friday (December 11).

Other roadworks in the Cheddar area that are set to take place this week include:

The temporary traffic lights on the A371 Draycott Road in Cheddar to enable Wales and West Utilities to replace a gas main are due to remain in place until December 18.

From Tuesday (December 8) to Friday, BT is scheduled to be repair a faulty telecommunications cable in Froglands Way, Cheddar.

From Monday (December 7) to Wednesday (December 9), Somerset Highways are set to be installing a new connection to a mains sewer in Cheddar Road, Axbridge.

Finally, on Thursday (December 10) and Friday, Western Power Distribution is due to be undertaking remedial works following a council coring defect in Jubilee Road, Axbridge.
