The winners of the best Christmas lights in Cheddar's Cliff Street lighting competition have been presented with their trophy.

Mother and daughter Sarah and Freya Neal, together with their border terrier Frederic, received the trophy for winning the competition, which is held as part of the village's annual Festive Night celebrations.

The family only moved into their house Roseneath in September and said they were thrilled for it to be chosen as the best in the street so soon after moving in.

Chairman of Cheddar Parish Council, Peter Colton, who presented the trophy, said: "Because Cliff Street is the main link between the village centre and the gorge, householders light up their properties to make them as festive as possible.

"That's a lovely thing for the village and all our visitors."
