Pat and Ron Binding, residents at the Laurels Care Home in Draycott, had their date night wish come true this week, with help from Cheddar Fish Bar.
As part of the care home's Make a Wish initiative, residents were given the opportunity to tell staff about somewhere they'd always wanted to go or a special activity they'd always wanted to do.
After hearing how Pat, aged 87, and Ron, aged 89, love their fish and chips, wellbeing co-ordinator, Alice Sealey arranged a special date night for the couple.
Alice approached fish and chip shop, Cheddar Fish Bar, to provide the couple's favourite supper. The family-operated fish and chip shop caters for both eat in and takeaways, and generously provided takeaway fish and chips not only for Pat and Ron, but for all the residents at the Laurels Care Home.
"We would like to thank the team at Cheddar Fish Bar for their very generous gesture," said home manager Becky Green.
"We are so lucky to have such a supportive community around us, it was wonderful to make Pat and Ron's wish come true.
"They are such a devoted couple - they were thrilled with their special meal and had a wonderful evening together."
The Make a Wish initiative has seen residents from the Laurels Care Home and across the Country Court group, that runs the Draycott home, enjoy special outings and activities, from scoring goals at Sheffield United Football Club, to off-road driving and lots of family tea parties.
