A youth mental health organisation, which is based in Cheddar, has been chosen by the Rotary Club of Mendip as its charity of the year.

The Space is a charitable organisation whose mission is to provide unique, independent and preventive mental and emotional health and wellbeing services to Cheddar and surrounding area, to support children and young people with an open access range of support, advice, information, signposting, service provision and volunteer opportunities.

The organisation, which was recently awarded money for its work from the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner, aims to capitalise on the strong commitment and support of the local community - it is independent and well known to statutory and voluntary agencies across the county.

The Rotary Club will be supporting the charity through its 75 Club, which is their small society lottery they run to support local organisations.

The Rotary Club of Mendip supports many local organisations and clubs and some of the funds generated by the 75 Club will be used to continue this support to other groups in the local community as well as support The Space.

Participation in the 75 Club shall be by the purchase of a ticket, uniquely numbered, at a cost of £75 each.

The ticket will be entered into 10 monthly draws and one final Grand Draw. The maximum number of tickets that will be sold is 75.

A draw will take place monthly at the last Thursday meeting of the club in that month commencing September 24 at the Strawberry Special in Draycott with a prize of £75 for each of the next 10 months.

Each winning ticket will be put back into all subsequent monthly draws. The final Grand Draw will be made in June 2021 and will have three prizes at the maximum amounts of £1,000, £750 and £250 reduced proportionately if less than 75 tickets are sold.
