The Crown Inn at Axbridge will be turned into a house after planning permission was granted by Sedgemoor District Council.

The planning application for alterations, change of use and conversion of public house to form a dwelling, demolition of rear skittle alley to form a larger rear garden, and erection of a single-storey extension to the rear (north) elevation at the Crown Inn, St Mary's Street, Axbridge, was submitted by Linda Bishop.

The pub was on the market between May 2016 and January 2019 but a buyer could not be found either for the leasehold or freehold.

In granting approval, Sedgemoor planners stated that a loss of a public house was regrettable, but the application met the policy guidelines to allow for a change of use.

Proposed change of use of a building from agriculture to use for the keeping of hounds at Appleacre, lane from The Old Byre to Long Hill, Crickham, by Mr Nicholls has been refused.
