An elderly walker at Black Rock, Cheddar Gorge, had to be rescued by emergency services yesterday afternoon (March 7) after being injured in a fall.

Just after 2pm, fire crews from Cheddar were mobilised to assist ambulance personnel with gaining entry through a locked gate to the elderly casualty who had fallen while walking and suffered suspected broken bones.

Crews gained access through Black Rock Gate and used a stretcher to extricate the individual to the care of the ambulance service.
