The Wessex Learning Trust is delighted to announce its success in securing more than £1.6 million in government funding to improve five of its school sites in the Cheddar area.
The money comes from the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), an annual bidding round for academies which funds significant condition needs in order to keep education provider buildings safe and in good working order.
The Wessex Learning Trust has secured funding for five projects which will help transform schools, and safeguard the future of its learners' education.
The largest award was earned by Weare First School, which gained more than £500,000 to improve weather tightness in its main school block, ensuring the continuation of a warm environment for its pupils.
Other awards went to Brent Knoll Primary School, Hugh Sexey Middle School in Blackford and Wedmore First School, as well as the Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar, for the updating/replacement of mobile classrooms, heating, and fire safety systems respectively.
Chief executive, Gavin Ball, said: "The success of our CIF bids is wonderful news for the trust, which guarantees the future of our schools and their exceptional teaching for the long term.
"It will ensure that our already world class schools can continue to improve and provide for generations of children to come."
