Firefighters from Cheddar helped to tackle a tractor, baler and trailer on fire in a field near Moorlinch yesterday afternoon (August 28).

At around 5.30pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control received a 999 call reporting a large fire in the distance. One fire engine from Street was sent.

On arrival, crews confirmed this was actually a tractor, baler and trailer well alight in a field near Moorlinch.

Crews asked for further assistance from one of the service's Ground Hog vehicles, which are equipped for firefighting in rural areas and off-road locations. This was sent from Cheddar.

Crews extinguished the fire using a light portable pump and one main jet.

The tractor, baler and trailer were all destroyed by the fire and the cause was accidental.
