Welcome to our Hospitality Heroes series on Cheddar Nub News.

We will be providing you with a profile of a number of fantastic hospitality venues ahead of their reopening in April and May.

The industry has been hit particularly hard with pubs and restaurants only open for four out of the last 12 months.

Today here is everything you need to know about Franks Restaurant.

Situated The Bays at the bottom of Cheddar Gorge, it has been a challenging few months for husband and wife team Frank and Sue Farrell, after both contracted coronavirus.

Sue told Cheddar Nub News: "We are temporarily closed due to government restrictions and felt that our style of food didn't fall into the takeaway category.

"Under normal circumstances we would be gearing up ready for the anticipated opening in May.

"However, during all this Frank and I unfortunately contracted Covid-19 and although I had relatively mild symptoms, Frank unfortunately didn't and ended up in Weston Hospital.

"He was eventually put in an induced coma and put on a ventilator. Having spent four weeks in hospital he is now home and recovering slowly.

"The downside is that he is still on oxygen at home and this looks likely to continue for a while yet.

"Although we can make background plans to open up, the timing will now be guided by his recovery rather than the lifting of government restrictions."
