A leisure facility in Cheddar will be receiving £82,000 from Sport England to help it recover from the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis.

Kings Fitness and Leisure will receive the one off payment from the Sport England National Leisure Recovery Fund. Due to the rules of the bidding process, even though it does not own nor run the facility, Sedgemoor District Council was the organisation who had to submit the complex financial application, compiled by the Management Team at the Leisure Club.

The detail submitted by local authorities, trusts and operators will also help Sport England and Government to articulate what further support is needed to help protect £6.4 billion of social value created by leisure facilities.

Despite not owning nor running Kings Fitness and Leisure, Sedgemoor District Council says it does support community access, school swimming lessons and general health and wellbeing of residents across the district. Along with three other Leisure providers in Sedgemoor, Kings Fitness and Leisure receives a proportion of the yearly £622,000, funded by Sedgemoor District Council to meet the needs of the community.
