Cheddar Chamber is getting together with Plastic Free Cheddar to host an evening where businesses in the village can learn how they can do better with their waste.

The event is taking place from 6pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday January 22 at VADO in the village Business Park.

A spokesperson for the chamber said: "Our businesses produce it. We want to recycle it.

"We know we could do better but if we're honest, we're not convinced what's really happening to it once it's collected anyway.

"Well here's your opportunity to listen to a local expert and hear how we might just change that for the better. Please let us know if you would like to come."

Leading the evening will be Nick Palmer, who lives in Winscombe and is business development director at PyroCore in Portishead.

Nick has more than 20 years front line sales and marketing experience gained from the defence, oil and gas, and environmental technology industries, and he is going to share the wider issue of plastics and how Cheddar might become a sustainable tourist destination.
