Cheddar residents should be prepared to leave extra time for their journeys during May, as a number of roadworks are planned in the village, including a road closure and numerous sets of temporary traffic lights.
Signs have gone up in Cheddar for the closure of the B3151 Lower New Road, which will be shut between the junction with the A371 and the junction with Sharpham Road for 16 days from May 10 to 26.
The 24-hour closure will be in place to enable Fryer Hire to carry out excavation and uncover the existing gas main and to then carry out the repositioning of the main and undertake associated works.
On the A371 itself, at Upper New Road, six weeks of temporary traffic lights are planned from May 4 to June 18 for Bristol Water works.
On the other side of the village, on the A371 Draycott Road, temporary traffic lights are scheduled to be in place on May 5 and 6 for BT works to take place.
Meanwhile, the B3135 Tweentown is set to see temporary traffic lights at the same time - from May 4 to 6 - also for BT works, meaning that on May 5 and 6, drivers coming into the village will encounter temporary lights from three different directions.
A final set of temporary traffic lights are currently scheduled to be in place, again on the B3135 Tweentown, but this time on May 10 for Western Power Distribution works.
