If you love to sing and have always wondered what it's like to sing in a choir, now's the chance to find out in Shipham.

The new no-audition Cheddar Valley Good Afternoon Choir starts today (September 7) running from 1pm to 3pm at Shipham Hall and there's a warm welcome to go along and find out more.

Bath-based music man Grenville Jones started his Good Afternoon Choirs 12 years ago and Cheddar Valley is one of eight new choirs about to start up this autumn.

Kate Lynch is the leader and conductor of the Cheddar Valley Good Afternoon Choir. Kate has been leading singing across the Cheddar Valley for the past 14 years and has always been passionate about getting everyone to sing, be they old, young or inexperienced.

She is at home leading massed vocal workshops, singing in schools and conducting community choirs.

The choirs sing popular melodies in harmony and each choir raises money for a local charity selected by the members.

In 2019, prior to lockdown, the Good Afternoon Choirs raised more than £22,000 for local deserving charities.

Grenville said: "Come along and meet the Cheddar Valley Good Afternoon Choir on a Tuesday afternoon from 1pm at Shipham Hall.

"There's no charge for attending the first rehearsal and bring a friend. Choirs are great for meeting new friends and enjoying the best hobby in the world."
