A planning application for a four-bedroom house to be built in the centre of Cheddar has been resubmitted.
The application for the erection of a dwelling and detached double garage (amended scheme) on land to the north of Ashey Lane, Cheddar, has been made by the Rev Hilary Thomas and her brother Daniel Thomas.
An application for a house on the site had previously been withdrawn after planning officers expressed concerns over the design and neighbouring amenity.
According to the new application, the land subject to the proposal is located at the rear of the property known as Hazelmere, where one of the applicants is resident.
The site has been in the Thomas family for many years and has been historically used for agriculture and horticulture.
The land immediately south of the application site already has planning permission for the building of two detached two-storey houses.
The latest application is for a chalet-style detached, four-bedroom home with four car parking spaces plus a garage.
The application says: "The amended development is within a sustainable location within the settlement of Cheddar.
"The development will deliver clear economic, social and environmental benefits. In particular the
development will provide one additional dwelling in an area where there is a need for further housing growth. "This statement confirms that the development can be delivered without significant adverse impact upon the environment or ecological interests, drainage and flood risk, highway safety, residential amenity, heritage assets, visual or landscape character, or other interests of acknowledged importance to planning."
