Plans submitted to build two houses in garden of Cheddar home

Plans to build two detached houses in the garden of a home in Cheddar, have been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council.

A planning application for the building of two detached dwellings including parking provisions on land to the rear of Wassels House, Upper New Road, Cheddar, has been submitted by Messrs A and R Mason.

The proposed dwellings would be detached two-storey properties, with rooms within the roof space, and of a traditional design.

The proposal includes amenity space, parking for at least three cars, and access on to Littlewood Way.

It is the intention of the applicants to develop these houses for themselves and their families to live in as their main residence.

The site comprises land to the rear and south west of the existing dwelling at Wassells House, being on what is currently garden, and it aligns with the building line of the recently completed new development to the north, now known as Littlewood Way.

Other planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been submitted this week include:

Erection of replacement stables on site of existing stables (to be demolished) at The Elms, Crib House Lane, Crickham, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs Frost.

Erection of single storey rear (north) and side (west) wrap around extension at Land's End Farmhouse, Land's End, Heath House, near Wedmore, is wanted by Mr and Mrs Mewes.

Demolition of existing rear (south) extension and the installation of two rooflights, two rear (south) Bifold doors, with internal alterations at Hill House, Sand Road, Wedmore, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs Bedford.

Planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been decided this week include:

Proposed refurbishment of existing bar at the Town Hall, The Square, Axbridge, by Axbridge Town Trust has been approved.

Erection of detached self-build dwelling on site of existing workshop/store (to be demolished) at The Cottage, Church Lane, Badgworth, by Mr and Mrs Skinner has been approved.

Application to determine if prior approval is required for the erection of single-storey extension extending 4.53m from the rear (west) elevation on site of existing conservatory to be demolished at Constantine, Lower New Road, Cheddar, by Mr C Wheatstone has been approved.

Erection of single-storey side (south) extension and detached garage with the formation of new driveway at Linden, Dutch Road, Mark, by Mr and Mrs Fisher has been approved.

Change of use and conversion of barns A and B to a dwelling; erection of a two-storey extension to (south) elevation of barn A and demolition of outbuildings C and D, and metal shed; change of use of agricultural land to garden, driveway and parking; erection of timber-framed carport and garden store at South View Farm, lane from the Old Byre to Long Hill, Crickham, by Miss Hector has been approved.

Application for non-material amendment to planning permission 50/21/00039 (conversion and extension of existing barn to form a dwelling, erection of a dwelling on site of existing barn to be demolished, and conversion and extension of existing silage clamp to form garage and stables) to allow for Plot 1 rear full height window changed to single glazed door, window removed from front elevation and timber casement windows to be painted grey; Plot 2 side gable window turned to single door, two windows to the front elevation reduced in height and level maintenance strip around the front of the building at Glendale Farm, Cheddar Road, Cocklake, by BJ Campbell South West Ltd has been approved.

Proposed demolition of two agricultural buildings and replace with a new holiday let and improve access onto the A371 (Wells Road) on land to the east of Wyndward, Wells Road, Rodney Stoke, by Mr Jonathan Meredith has been approved.

Erection of shower block to revised designs inclusive of reception office at the Rodney Stoke Inn, Wells Road, Rodney Stoke, by Mr Shaun Abrahams has been approved.
