Plans to demolish a barn and build a home in its place on a farm between Mark and Blackford, have been given the green light by Sedgemoor District Council.

A planning application for the building of a dwelling on the site of an agricultural building to be demolished and the construction of a garage/car port at Fairview Farm, Blackford Road, had been submitted by Mr Bonell.

The application site is located on the south side of the B3139 about 0.7km to the east of Mark, and comprises a steel portal framed agricultural building situated 30m down a track which spurs off the road.

Prior approval was granted in 2019 for the conversion of the agricultural building to a dwelling but permission has now been granted so the existing frame will be retained but built upon and extended to provide a larger dwelling than previously sought.

It will still be a steel portal framed building clad with horizontal larch boarding under a composite roof sheet in anthracite grey.

The south elevation will include a steel framed balcony with glass balustrade which will project over the ground floor below.

A three-bay car port will be constructed to the south west of the dwelling and it will have two open bays and one enclosed.

Other planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been decided this week include:

Erection of a wooden structure to house bikes and equipment for tenants of the first-floor apartment and formation of store for bins and recycling boxes; shed to incorporate planters on the roof and to integrate the shed with a drinking water refill station as part of the Refill app, bike pump and drop off point at Saxons, Station Road, Cheddar, has been approved.

Proposed single storey side (east) and rear (south) extension on site of existing garage, study and conservatory to be demolished, with the addition of a new front (north) porch at Harvest Gate, Old Coach Road, Cross, by Mr and Mrs Parry has been approved.

Erection of a porch to south elevation, erection of a two storey extension to the side (east) elevation and re-proportioning of windows on south elevation at Winburn Cottage, Mudgley Hill, Wedmore, has been approved.

Erection of garden studio and store to replace existing artist's studio/garden store at St Omer, The Street, Draycott, by Mr Chantrey has been approved.
