Plans to convert a priest's office in Cheddar into an architect's studio have been given the green light by Sedgemoor District Council.
The planning application for the proposed change of use of a dwelling and priest's office to ground floor architect's studio and first floor self-contained two-bedroom flat, and the building of a single-storey extension to the rear (north) elevation at The Presbytery, Tweentown, Cheddar, was submitted by Robinson Clark Ltd.
The building is located next to the Queen of Apostles Church and has previously been used as a priest's office and dwelling, with residential accommodation over both floors.
The ground floor can now be used as an architect's studio at the front with its own kitchen. The first floor and rear of the ground floor will house a self-contained flat comprising two bedrooms, living room, and kitchen/diner.
Demolition of an existing rear lean-to will enable a new single-storey rear extension to be added to provide for the kitchen for the flat.
Cheddar Parish Council supported the application, and Sedgemoor District Council agreed, saying the proposal was considered an appropriate use of the building.
