Plans have been approved to create extra bedrooms in the new houses being built in Lower Weare.

A planning application for non-material amendment to Planning Permission 49/19/00016 (approval of reserved matters for the demolition of existing buildings and redevelopment for eight dwellings) to allow for change in Plots 2 and 3 from a total of four three-bedroom properties to four four-bedroom properties at the former Weare Garage, Turnpike Road, Lower Weare, had been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council by Beechwood Construction.

The site was previously a family-run garage, providing car servicing, repairs and an MOT station, plus an adjacent dwelling associated with the ownership.

Permission was granted in 2018 for the building of up to eight homes on the site, and reserved matters were granted in 2019 for eight dwellings of two or three bedrooms.

The non-material amendment that has now been granted will see no external changes taking place, as the alterations are achieved through internally partitioning an existing bedroom in each of the new homes.

The four homes on Plots 2 and 3 will now feature two double bedrooms and two single bedrooms, rather than three doubles as originally proposed.

One planning application in the Cheddar area has been submitted this week:

Works to Trees in Conservation Area - ash (T1) - remove the two lowest 150mm diameter branches over neighbour's garden on south west side; sycamore (T2) - remove lowest 200mm diameter branch over garden on south side, remove lowest 230mm diameter branch on north west side, remove four 25 to 50mm diameter branches directly over garage roof on north side at Holly House, Church Street, Cheddar, have been applied for by Mr James.

Planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been decided this week include:

Installation of two Velux windows at The Cottage, St Mary's Street, Axbridge, by Mrs R Durrant has been approved.

Erection of a triple garage and store at Stone Wood, Bradley Cross Lane, Bradley Cross, Cheddar, by Mr Beer has been approved.
