Students from Wedmore and Lower Langford have reflected on their grades after results day and are now looking to the future.

Amelia Ford, of Wedmore, went to Strode College in Street, and received A* grades in her three A-levels in Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics.

The former student at Kings of Wessex Academy, in Cheddar, is now planning to study Physics at the University of Southampton.

She said: "I was shocked when I checked my results online, all A*, totally insane.

"I wanted to attend Strode as I knew it would be a good transition to university to start learning independence.

"I liked how friendly everyone is and my Physics teacher was the best mentor I could have."

Cheri Stotesbury from Lower Langford also attended Strode, and she received a Distinction in her Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

She also previously attended the Kings of Wessex Academy, and is now planning to study Illustration at The University of Edinburgh.

"I was surprised at my results, but pleased that all the hard work paid off," Cheri said.

"I'm grateful to the teachers for being so supportive over the past year – they were so encouraging and understanding."
