A telehandler vehicle was destroyed in a fire in Wedmore this afternoon (June 13).

At around 3pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control received a call regarding a telehandler on fire in Wedmore.

One fire engine from Cheddar and a fire engine from Glastonbury attended the incident alongside a water carrier from Bridgwater.

On arrival the telehandler was well alight with a burst hydraulic line but the vehicle was isolated in a yard not threatening surrounding buildings.

The telehandler held four butane cylinders which crews were able to remove from the risk area.

Crews got to work with two breathing apparatus, three jets, a fog spoke and a thermal imaging camera, and were able to extinguish the fire.

The telehandler was destroyed by the fire, but the cause is believed to be accidental.
