Thatchers Cider have withdrawn plans to build a new road to service the orchards in Compton Bishop.

A planning application submitted to Sedgemoor District Council to determine if prior approval is required for a proposed new road for agricultural use at land north of Church Lane and Webbington Road, Compton Bishop, by John Thatcher Farming Ltd has been withdrawn.

The proposal had comprised of the construction of a 160m long track along the edge of the field,

linking three parcels of land.

In the original application, it stated that the track was required to provide the necessary internal infrastructure to allow orchard operations to function throughout the year, but the application has now been withdrawn.

One other planning application in the Cheddar area was decided by Sedgemoor District Council planners this week.

A notice of intent to install a DSLAM equipment cabinet at the electronic telecommunications apparatus in Orchard Road, Axbridge, by Harlequin Group has been approved.

One planning application in the Cheddar area has also been submitted to the Sedgemoor District Council planning department this week.

An application for the change of use of land to residential and the building of a swimming pool and store buildings, with the existing store buildings to be demolished, at Perrow Farm, Perrow Lane, Wedmore, has been made by Mrs McCormack.
