Volunteers needed to help Cheddar community hub cafe

A community cafe in Cheddar is seeking volunteers to help it continue as a resource and hub for the village.

The Café Abundance in Bath Street became independent from the church in October last year, opening only for one month before lockdown closed the doors.

As a community interest company, the Café Abundance aims to be a community hub for the Cheddar Valley, offering homemade food and good coffee served with love, with the vision that the café space will be used for teracycle, repair café, youth groups and so much more.

However, for the Café Abundance to reopen, they need a voluntary management team to help with a number of roles including recruiting volunteers and marketing.

The current manager, Hannah Stimpson, has decided to step down from her paid role, to potentially return as a part-time volunteer and is very keen for a new management team to come forward to enable the café to reopen.

The details of volunteer jobs are in the window of the café, or request a copy of the voluntary job description from [email protected] - however the most essential immediate need is a voluntary recruitment co-ordinator.

Hannah said: "The Café Abundance is a wonderful space for the Cheddar community and wishes to remain a vital community resource and hub.

"The café encourages any community group to use the facility and/or assist with the running of the new initiatives."
