A warning has been issued about the safety of candles this Christmas time, following a fire at a block of flats in Cheddar earlier this week.
The fire happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning (December 15) at a block of 24 flats in Lower North Street.
It was started by a candle in a bedroom of one of the flats, and thanks to quick work by local fire crews, it was largely contained to the one home.
Cheddar Fire Station crew manager Alex Howley told Cheddar Nub News: "Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind people that candles should never be left unattended.
"There are now safe alternatives to ensure a safe Christmas and new year."
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has provided candle safety advice, which can be found here.
