Earlier this year, the Wessex Learning Trust launched a competition to name its new pre-school mascot.

Followign more than 200 entries from children across the trust, they were excited this term to announce the winner as Year 1 student Ebony, from Weare Academy First School.

Ebony's chosen name was Ella, selected by the mascot's designer, former trust student Jess Blacklock, and Ella will accompany promotional material for trust pre-schools in the years ahead.

A trust spokesperson said: "To celebrate Ebony's win we presented her with a framed certificate, letter of congratulations from our chief executive Gavin Ball and, most importantly, a box of chocolates.

"We hope that like us, you can't wait to see Ella around our schools."
