A bar in Wedmore, which temporarily closed when a customer tested positive for coronavirus, is planning on re-opening soon after a retest came back negative.

The Post and Wicket at Wedmore Playing Fields closed on Monday (September 7) after a customer who was at the venue on Saturday (September 5) tested positive.

However, this person has now had a retest, which has come back negative for coronavirus, and all the staff have been tested, and have all had negative results as well.

A spokesperson for the club said: "So just to clarify to everybody, the person who tested positive was retested and the results were negative, all staff are also negative.

"We were never contacted by the NHS Test and Trace, even though our details were supplied to them, we contacted them - make of that what you will.

"We will be reopening a lot earlier than first thought. I would like to thank the staff of the George for their professionalism in this instance and the solidarity shown from staff, customers and businesses in Wedmore.

"Obviously with the new restrictions recently brought into place from Monday, procedures will change again.

"We hope you all adhere to these changes. Once again many thanks for your co-operation."
