The A371 Axbridge bypass is set to be closed for up to a week from today (July 20) so a mains gas leak can be repaired.

Wales and West Utilities have reported that they have a mains leak at the junction of the A371 and the A38.

A 24-hour-a-day closure of the A371 is needed to fix the leak, and this is scheduled to start at 9.30am today, with the works expected to last up to seven days, including the weekend.

Four-way temporary traffic lights are going to be used at the junction of Cross Lane and the A38 to enable traffic to safely head northbound on to the A38.

These lights will be manually-controlled to help with traffic flow from 7am to 7pm every day during the duration of the works.
