The Wessex Learning Trust and Cheddar First School have announced that Suzi Smith will be taking on the role of acting head teacher at the school from September to December.

Ms Smith, who is currently deputy head at the school, will take over the reigns from the outgoing headteacher, Maggie Wookey, who is stepping down after many years of service.

Ms Smith brings a wealth of experience to the role of acting head teacher and will be a familiar face to those already within the school.

A spokesperson for the trust said: "We look forward to welcoming her to her new post, as well as supporting her and working with her to continue the school's exceptional work in providing a caring and supportive environment for the children within its care.

"The trust wishes to thank Mrs Wookey for her hard work and commitment to the school, and wishes her the best for the future."
