Plans have been submitted to convert a former skittle alley at a Wedmore pub into four new guest bedrooms.

A planning application for the change of use of a function room to form four guest bedroom suites at The Swan, Cheddar Road, Wedmore, has been submitted by the Stay Original Company Ltd.

The building subject of this application had originally been used as a skittle alley. Planning permission was granted for its use as a function room ancillary to The Swan together with elevational changes in 2011.

The new proposal will supplant this use with four guest bedrooms to add to the existing seven guest bedrooms currently offered.

The application said: "The business provides employment for 35 part and full-time staff.

"In principle, the proposal is wholly beneficial to sustaining the successful development of The Swan as a high-end hospitality destination and the benefit this has of increasing the visitor appeal of Sedgemoor District and extending of the holiday season."
