Avon and Somerset Police used a dispersal order to break up a large car meet in Cheddar Gorge last night (September 5).

The police say they received a number of reports of anti-social driving around Cheddar and a gathering of vehicles in Cheddar Gorge on Sunday evening.

Officers attended the Gorge and told Cheddar Nub News that they maintained a visible presence, ensuring music was turned down.

It is believed that more than 300 cars and spectators attended the gathering, which is the latest in a long line of meets held in the Gorge by car enthusiasts.

Just before 11pm a dispersal order was put in place under anti-social behaviour legislation, giving officers powers to direct people to leave the area.
