Supporting Cheddar businesses: The services being offered locally during the second lockdown

A second national lockdown is upon us, but businesses in the Cheddar area are still providing a whole host of services for local customers.
At Cheddar Nub News, we support local businesses so here is a round-up of the services being offered by a number of businesses in and around the village during the lockdown.

Edelweiss
Edelweiss is doing a pre-order takeaway service.
Our menu is pinned to the top of our Facebook page and customers can phone between 8.30am and 2pm to pre-order and arrange a collection slot, on 01934 742347.
Collections slots will run all day and every day, between 8.30am and 6pm.
Collections will be through our kitchen hatch so no one need come inside. Payments can be made over the phone or when picking up.
Bouquet Florist Cheddar
Bouquet Florist Cheddar is offering delivery of flowers, plants and balloons.

Blackdog Chuck Wagon
The Blackdog Chuck Wagon will be open Monday to Friday for takeaway food from 8am to 2pm.
We are based on the industrial site by the Mages group.
Birch Moon
My gentle yoga classes are back online.
Monday - Chi Yoga (a fusion of Hatha Yoga and Chinese healing movement) - 10am to 11.15am.
Wednesday - Gentle Holistic Yoga - traditional yoga with postures, breath work and relaxation. 10am to 11.15am.
Wednesday - Chi Yoga (as above) 6.15pm to 7.30pm.
Friday - The Chill Zone/Restorative yoga - extra slow, gentle and soothing, 1.45pm to 3pm.
All classes are particularly good for beginners, those with health issues and people needing a soothing yet uplifting practice.

The sessions are recorded so you can repeat the class (three day's access) or follow at a time that suits you best.
Factory Bargains
We are hoping our shop and Factory Bargain Foods shop will stay open during lockdown. We are trying to work out if we can offer a delivery service.
People can come to the shop, call us on 01934 611836 or contact us via our Facebook page and we will try and help.
The Arts Quarter
We are planning to provide shopping channel-style videos on Facebook, and we are also online so we are available for click and collect.
Joanna Thorne Wellbeing
Due to the nature of my business (hands on therapies), I will have to close my doors for a month (hopefully no longer).

I am also offering video call appointments for Emotional Freedom Therapy (tapping). EFT is a fantastic therapy for helping to cope with stress, fear, anxiety, grief and pain.
Street Car Repair
We at Street Car Repair will continue to operate during the lockdown with the same safe working procedures we have had in place since the March lockdown.
Keys to be handed to gloved hands at arms length or placed on the ground where possible, sanitized before and after use, hard and soft surfaces will be cleaned with anti bacteria wipes once work has been completed with the choice of an anti bacteria fog sprayed into the vehicle, contactless payments are available and our staff comply with all government guidelines to provide the safest working environment.
Rachel's Grill
I will remain open from 8am to 2pm Tuesday to Saturday at Cheddar Football Club.
Phone orders are preferred and collections times will be given. Customers with collections are being asked to wait in their vehicle if there are customers at the counter.
We will continue to reassess the situation, with the possibility of offering a delivery service as we did last time, and possibly open one evening a week.
Extra Mile Printing
We'll be open for orders by email, phone and online as non-essential retail are allowed to stay open for click and collect.
Zen Thai Restaurant
Zen Thai Restaurant will be reverting to our contactless takeaway service for the duration of the lockdown.
This service will be available Tuesdays to Sundays 5pm to 10pm.
Don Bishop Photography
We are offering a click and collect service for pictures above A4 (14"x11"). These can be ordered via the website (www.donbishop.co.uk) and select click and collect, and we will prepare the order and advise customers when it is ready for collection from our gallery in the Gorge.
We have prints available from most areas of the UK in sizes A4 (14"x11"), A3 (20"x16"), A2 (70x50cm) and panoramic format prints in 50x30cm, 70x40cm and 100x50cm. Excellent Christmas gifts or to bring back memories of your own favourite places.
Ripley Antiques
At Ripley Antiques our doors will be physically closed but we are very much open and working hard in the background.
We will also be open by appointment and we are always looking for new stock. I will be photographing as much as I can so you can keep an eye on all our new stock as it comes in.

We are happy to deliver in our immediate area for free (safely) or ask for a quote. We are still doing removals, clearances, furniture pick ups and deliveries.
La Rocca

Dragon House Chinese
The Chinese is staying open for takeaway and delivery, Wednesday to Mondays 5pm to 10pm.
Woodbury Insurance Brokers
Woodbury Insurance is still trading and will continue to trade through the second lockdown. We are providing a full service via telephone and email.
Customers can still drop payment and forms through our letter box. Our opening hours for the time being are Monday to Friday 9am to 5.15pm closed between 1pm and 2pm for lunch and closed at weekends.
The Cheddar Cakery
We are going to be operating pre-order collection and local delivery only, for celebration cakes, cupcake orders and hot drinks.
We have launched our new website www.thecheddarcakery.com so that you can view our complete cupcake menu and see more examples of our celebration cakes to order.
During weekdays, we will provide a next day pre-order service of our cupcake boxes and celebration cakes, check the website for prices and flavours.
To order, please contact us via email [email protected] or send us a message on Facebook to place your order for next day collection or delivery.
Deliveries will be once per day at approximately 4pm, free within the local area with a minimum spend of £10.
During the weekends, we will be in the cakery as usual but for slightly restricted hours:
Saturdays - 11am to 4pm
Sundays - 11am to 3pm We will provide a contactless takeaway service for our hot drinks and a selection of our cupcakes. You can still pre-order to guarantee your favorite flavors. Simply place an order on the day by calling 01934 707879 and then come and collect and pay for your order from the cakery with our contactless collection.
