Two crews were called to extinguish a fire in Axbridge yesterday afternoon (April 19).

Just after 5pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire in garage attached to a domestic property in Mendip Close, Axbridge.

One crew from Cheddar and one crew from Burnham-on-Sea attended.

On arrival the crews confirmed a fire in a air heat exchange pump within the garage. The crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the area was safe.

The fire destroyed the heater and caused some smoke damage to the remainder of the garage.
