Visiting family thank Good Samaritans for their help after dog is injured in Cheddar
A family who are visiting relatives in Cheddar have thanked local Good Samaritans for all their help after their pet dog got injured in the village.
Paul James and his family, including their dog Finn, are from Cheshire but are visiting family in Cheddar.
Paul wanted to recognise all the help they received from locals after an unfortunate incident saw Finn receive a nasty injury.
He said: "A couple of days ago, we took our black lab, Finn, for a late afternoon walk, along with our 10-month-old baby to The Rec.
"Unfortunately Finn ran full speed into the metal fence that surrounds the kids' play area while he was chasing a tennis ball, and we initially thought that he'd broken his leg due to the force that he struck the fence and the yelping noises that he was making afterwards while holding his leg in the air.
"I wanted to say a big thank you to the couple who were walking their dog and heard the commotion, and called an emergency vet for us while helping to entertain our baby.
"Also to the man who kindly went and got his car and drove it on to the Rec to give us a lift to the vet if needed, the lady that lives nearby that works in Sainsbury's and came to help out, and last but not least the group of teenagers, who often get a bad rep, that came over to ask if everything was OK."
Paul told Cheddar Nub News today (August 31) that Finn is on the mend and thankfully isn't too badly injured.
He said: "He's been X-rayed at the vets and has bruising and swelling to his shoulder, but no fractures.
"A cut on his chest has been stapled and he'll be on painkillers for five days. He's up and about and a lot better today.
"We can't remember any names, but hope that if this message is shared far and wide, it will get to those who showed concern and helped us. We were overwhelmed by how kind everybody was - faith in humanity restored."
