Local residents aged 18 and over from Cheddar and the surrounding area are being invited to attend a special drop-in clinic at the Winchester Farm site in the village, tomorrow (Saturday June 26) as part of the national Grab a Jab Weekend campaign.

All eligible adults who have not yet had a first dose, and have not yet booked a slot through the National Booking Service (NBS) can come along to the vaccination site any time on Saturday between 9am and 3pm.

Dr Joey McHugh, local GP and clinical lead at the vaccination centre, said: "We've been really pleased with the vaccination take-up so far, but there are plenty more slots available.

"If you are aged 18 and over, we really want to encourage you to get your jab. There is no need to book, just come along and our friendly team of vaccinators and volunteers will be ready to welcome you to the site and keep the clinics running as smoothly as possible."

The Winchester Farm GP-led vaccination site opened at the beginning of June, replacing the previous site at the Mulberry Centre in Berrow. The new site has increased capacity to vaccinate larger numbers of people and ample parking.

There are a broad range of vaccination sites in Somerset on offer through the NBS including large vaccination sites, GP-led community sites and an increasing number of new pharmacy-led sites.

People can book both first and second doses in advance by calling 119 or visiting: nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.

In addition to booked vaccination appointments across the county, walk in-clinics will also be running for first doses and second doses for people who had their first dose at least eight weeks ago:

Today (Friday June 25)

Taunton Racecourse: 10am to 6pm for second dose AstraZeneca

The Bath and West Showground, near Shepton Mallet: 10am to 6pm for first dose Pfizer

Tomorrow (Saturday June 26)

Yeovil Gateway Centre: 10am to 4pm for first dose Pfizer

Day Lewis Pharmacy, Burnham-on-Sea Rugby Football Club: 5pm to 7pm: for first dose Pfizer

Taunton Racecourse: 10am to 6pm for second dose AstraZeneca

Winchester Farm, Cheddar: 9am to 3pm for first dose Pfizer

Sunday June 27

Taunton Racecourse: 10am to 6pm for second dose AstraZeneca

The Bath and West Showground, near Shepton Mallet: 10am to 6pm for first dose Pfizer

Day Lewis Pharmacy, Burnham-on-Sea Rugby Football Club: 3pm to 5pm for first dose Pfizer

Vaccinations also continue to be available for anyone in priority groups 1-12 who have not yet taken up the offer of a vaccine, by booking an appointment through the National Booking Service, or using one of the walk-in clinics.

All Somerset vaccination sites are following the latest JCVI preference to provide an alternative to the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine for adults under the age of 39, without underlying health conditions.
