Plans have been submitted to build a three-bedroom house close to The Furlong recreation ground in Axbridge.

A planning application for the building of a detached single-storey dwelling on land to the north of Portmeade Drove, Axbridge, has been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council by Mrs K Odey and Mr J Chard.

The proposal involves a three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence with lounge, dining room/kitchen and utility room.

The application says the siting of the home has been carefully considered in that it is positioned on the building line of the site, and would therefore not be overly dominant in the landscape.

A new crossing of the watercourse running along the front of the site would be formed with concrete planks on a steel frame, surfaced with Tarmac.

Other planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been submitted this week include:

Erection of two-storey side (east) extension on site of existing extension (to be demolished) and single-storey extension (north) at Bourton Cottage, Bourton Lane, Compton Bishop, has been applied for by Mr G Dalrymple.

Proposed installation of two dormers to the east and west elevations with internal alterations at Waycroft, Templars Way, Shipham, is wanted by Mr and Mrs Taylor.

Planning applications in the Cheddar area that have been decided this week include:

Erection of detached garden room and car port at Grove House, Badgworth, by Mr and Mrs R Anderson has been approved.

Proposed loft conversion and the installation of dormer windows to the north and south elevations to provide additional living accommodation at Hamfield House, Warrens Hill, Cheddar, by Mr and Mrs Hooper has been approved.

Change of use of land from agricultural to residential garden area at Maes-y-de, Venns Gate, Cheddar, by Mr B Britton has been approved.

Erection of single-storey rear (north) extension at 2 Barrows Croft, Cheddar, by Mr and Mrs Khan and Hand has been approved.

Application for Non-Material Amendment to Planning Permission 17/20/00088 (approval of the details of appearance, landscaping, layout and scale for the erection of 60 dwellings and associated infrastructure) to allow for the relocation of Plot 7 and garage/parking as well as minor adjustments to attenuation features at land to the north of Helliers Lane, Cheddar, by Bellway Homes Ltd (South West) has been approved.

Change of use of dwelling from holiday accommodation to residential at Highbury Cottage, Stoughton Road, West Stoughton, by Mr P Small has been withdrawn.
