The pavilion at the new Mark Cricket Club ground will now be in a better place for spectators, after planning approval was given.

A planning application for the variation of Condition 2 of Planning Permission 33/19/00032 (formation of cricket pitch and square, and building of pavilion) to amend the approved plans to allow for repositioning of pavilion at land to the west of Vole Road, Mark, was submitted to Sedgemoor District Council by Mark Cricket Club.

Approval was given earlier this year to turn the field into a new cricket ground, but the club applied to alter the original plan for where the pavilion would be located.

It will now be in the south west corner of the ground, meaning there will be greater security from theft and vandalism as it is further away from the road, there is more protection from the prevailing wind, spectators and players will not have to look into the sun from the pavilion while

watching the game, and it will be easier for the scorers to pick up the umpires' signals as they will not be looking into the sun either.
