As more and more events are being organised locally, Nub News is launching a new weekly round up of what's on in Cheddar each weekend.

Every Thursday we will now bring you our top picks of the events in our What's On section for the coming weekend.

Here are our top event picks for the coming days:

1. Cheddar Valley u3a Open Day

Come along to to the Cheddar Valley u3a Open day on Saturday October 30 from 10.30am to 2.30pm in Cheddar Village Hall where the group will be showcasing many of its 50 activity groups.

Cheddar Valley u3a is one of 400 u3as in the UK providing the framework for the active retired and semi retired to pursue interests, hobbies and activities in the company of like minded people.

The u3a is already valued by the 500 or so members in the Cheddar Valley area, and they have had 30 new members since the end of lockdown.

2. Cheddar FC As vs Banwell FC Reserves

The Cheddar Football Club A team will be facing the Banwell FC Reserves on Saturday, with a kick-off at 3pm.

The match is a fixture in the Weston-super-Mare and District Football League Division 2.

Cheddar currently sit second in the table and they could go top if results go their way. Banwell sit seventh and can also make significant progress up the table with a victory.

[H2]3. Exhibition - Beach Clean Collagraphs[H2]

Beach clean collagraph exhibition by Vanessa Robinson.

Held at The Arts Quarter until October 31, the collagraph plates were made from recycled mount board from old university work and all the collaged matter from beach rubbish that she has collected from Somerset beaches.

A percentage of sales will go to Surfers Against Sewage.
